BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Heidi Ritner (Jr., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) of No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan made 33 saves over 125:13 in cage to lead the Wolverines to a Seventh Place finish at the University of California-Irvine’s Barbara Kalbus Invitational.  For her performance, Ritner earns honors as the February 25 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

She opened the weekend with six saves and a steal as Michigan turned back No. 12 Loyola Marymount University.  After recording seven saves and a steal against both No. 4 the University of California-Los Angeles (15-5 L) and No. 6 University of the Pacific (12-9 L), Ritner posted 13 saves and two steals as Michigan upended No. 9 Arizona State University by a 9-5 count in the Seventh Place game.
