BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Heidi Ritner (Jr., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) of No. 6-ranked the University of Michigan posted a 2-1 mark with 27 saves, two steals and an assist in 89:59 between the pipes against three nationally-ranked California opponents to earn recognition as the March 18 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

A two-time Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2019 after previously taking the February 25 laurel, she opened the weekend with nine saves and six goals allowed in a 17-7 win at No. 13 Fresno State University on Friday, March 15, in Fresno.  Ritner added 11 saves, including four to shutout the Tigers in the third quarter, as Michigan took down No. 7 University of the Pacific in Stockton. 

She concluded her team’s West Coast swing by turning aside seven shots in an 11-7 loss in Berkeley to No. 4 University of California as the Golden Bears scored five times in the fourth quarter to rally.
