BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kata Utassy (Jr., Budapest, Hungary/Konyves Kalman Secondary School) recorded nine goals, two assists, three steals and a drawn exclusion for the No. 7-ranked Wolverines of the University of Michigan during the 2023 Fresno State University Bulldog Fest.  For her performance, Utassy is named the January 23 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

A three-time (March 1, April 12, April 26) CWPA Division I Rookie of the Week selection during the 2021 season, Utassy earns her second consecutive Player of the Week nod after taking the January 16 honor for aiding the Maize & Blue in downing Biola University (14-0 W), California Baptist University (16-5 W), Azusa Pacific University (18-6 W) and the host/No. 10 Sun Devils (11-10 OT W) last week at Arizona State University.

This week, she tallied a pair of markers with an assist and a steal in a 13-9 defeat of the host Bulldogs from Fresno State on Saturday, January 21.  Later in the day, she chipped in a pair of goals with a steal in a 15-6 loss to No. 6 the University of Hawaii.

In the concluding game of the weekend, she scored five times, dished out an assist, drew an exclusion and snagged a steal during a 13-10 loss to No. 4 the University of California on Sunday, January 22.
