BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kata Utassy (Sr., Budapest, Hungary/Konyves Kalman Secondary School) of No. 11-ranked the University of Michigan chipped in 13 goals, three assists and five drawn exclusions as the season-opening 2024 Fresno State University Polo-Palooza to earn status as the January 22 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

A three-time (March 1, April 12, April 26) CWPA Division I Rookie of the Week selection during the 2021 season, Utassy garners her sixth Player of the Week kudos after taking the January 16, January 23, April 3, April 10 and April 17 honors in 2023.

She commenced the 2024 season by scoring six times, handing out a pair of assists and drawing three exclusions in a 14-11 overtime loss to No. 4 the University of Hawaii on Saturday, January 20.  Utassy capped off the day by racking up three goals, an assist and a drawn exclusion in an 11-10 loss to the host/No. 5 Bulldogs.

On Sunday, January 21, she concluded the Wolverines’ West Coast trip by putting away four markers with another drawn exclusion during a 16-7 loss to No. 3 the University of California.
