BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kayla Barone (Sr., Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) of No. 6-ranked the University of Michigan racked up seven goals, an assist and three steals to aid the Wolverines in posting a 3-1 mark at the Arizona State University Cross Conference Challenge.  For her performance, Barone nets January 24 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week status.

A first-time weekly honoree from the league office, she aided the Maize & Blue’s cause upending No. 8 Fresno State University (9-7 W), No. 9 Arizona State University (10-8 W OT) and No. 7 University of California-Irvine (7-6 W) with a 12-8 loss to No. 4 the University of California.

Following a two goal performance in a season-opening loss to California on Friday, January 21, she recorded a goal and two steals as the Wolverines upended UC-Irvine on Saturday, January 22.

Facing Arizona State and Fresno State on Sunday, January 23, she burnt the Sun Devils with three goals, an assist, a drawn exclusion and a steal prior to collaring the Bulldogs with a pair of tallies.
