BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lulu Hirschfield (Sr., San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) was honored with the Austin Hatch Adversity Award at the Crisler Center during the University of Michigan’s The Maizies on Tuesday, April 21.
The Maizies recognize Michigan athletes for their achievements in the classroom, community and athletics. In its fourth year as an awards show to celebrate the 2025-26 academic year, The Maizies featured academic awards, community service awards and honors developed and voted upon by student-athletes.
The Austin Hatch Adversity Award is presented to one Wolverines’ student-athlete who has overcome life-altering obstacles. It is named for former men’s basketball student-athlete and alum Austin Hatch who survived a pair of aircraft crashes to compete for Michigan.
Hirschfield concluded her tenure at Michigan with 61 goals, 40 assists, 39 drawn exclusions, 35 steals and 11 field field blocks over the span of 97 games.
