BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Maddie O’Reilly (Sr., Villanova, Pa./Episcopal Academy) of No. 6-ranked the University of Michigan tallied four goals and five assists over the span of four games at home during the Michigan Invitational to earn status as the February 22 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

Competing in the Wolverines’ first games of the season after the program’s inaugural six games of the 2021 season were canceled, O’Reilly opened the season on Saturday, February 20, with a goal, three steals and a drawn exclusion in an 8-5 victory over Midwest nemesis No. 13 Indiana University.  She closed out the opening day of the Michigan Invitational by burying a goal in a 12-7 defeat of Salem University.

On Sunday, February 21, she dished out three assists with a pair of steals in a 13-2 non-conference win against Saint Francis University prior to racking up pairs of goals, assists and steals with a drawn exclusion in an 11-6 dispatching of Indiana.

The Player of the Week nod marks the third in the past two years for O’Reilly who previously claimed recognition on January 27 and March 2 during the COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 season.
