BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Maddy Steere (Sr., Pascoe Vale, Australia/St. Catherine’s School) of No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan contributed seven goals during a 3-0 weekend for the Wolverines to garner recognition as the March 21 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

The Player of the Week nod marks the seventh weekly honor of Steere’s intercollegiate career as she previously garnered the January 21, March 18 and May 13 Player of the Week awards in 2019 following a pair of Player of the Week nods in 2018 (January 21, May 14) and a Rookie of the Week laurel (March 20) in 2017.

The 2019 CWPA Most Valuable Player who remained in Australia for the past two seasons to train for a spot on the Australia Olympic team, Steere put away a pair of goals, drew a pair of exclusions and snagged a steal in an 11-10 defeat of No. 14 Indiana University on Saturday, March 19, at home in Canham Natatorium to open the weekend.

She wrapped up the weekend by posting four goals with a pair of assists in a 14-5 defeat of No. 21 Brown University and chipping in a solo marker in an 18-2 handling of Mount St. Mary’s University in league competition on Sunday, March 20, in Emmitsburg, Md.
