BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Maddy Steere (Jr., Pascoe Vale, Australia/St. Catherine’s School) of the University of Michigan reeled off five goals, four assists and a steal during a 2-2 weekend for the No. 9-ranked Wolverines at the University of California-Santa Barbara Winter Invitational to earn recognition as the January 21 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

She led the team with five goals and nine points as Michigan fell to defending National Champion/No. 1 the University of Southern California (9-2 L) and No. 2 the University of California-Los Angeles (9-7 L) to accompany defeats of No. 18 California State University-Northridge (11-5 W) and Fresno State University (11-6 W).

Steere posted a goal and an assist in helping to dispatch Cal State-Northridge to go along with three goals and two assists in a near upset of UCLA.  She capped off the weekend with a goal, an assist and a steal in aiding the Maize & Blue to leash the Fresno State Bulldogs.
