BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sofie Pontre (Sr., Perth, Western Australia/Santa Maria College) helped No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan limit Salem University to seven combined goals in a pair of victories at home in Canham Natatorium on March 27 to earn the March 29 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week award.
A five-time weekly honor recipient from the league office following previous Defensive Player (2019: March 13; 2018: March 5) and Rookie (2018: January 22, May 14) of the Week awards, Pontre tallied a pair of goals, an assist, a drawn exclusion and grabbed two steals as the Wolverines topped the Tigers 19-2 and 16-5.
