BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sofie Pontre (Sr., Perth, Western Australia/Santa Maria College) helped No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan finish 5-0 during a week of games versus nationally ranked foes in Pennsylvania and California.  For her contributions, she is named the April 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

A six-time weekly honor recipient from the league office following previous Defensive Player (2020: March 29; 2019: March 13; 2018: March 5) and Rookie (2018: January 22, May 14) of the Week awards, Pontre factored in every game last week for the No. 7-ranked Wolverines as the Maize & Blue downed No. 13 University of the Pacific (5-4 W, 9-3 W), No. 21 Bucknell University (15-6 W) and No. 25 Saint Francis University (20-3 W).

She opened the week by dishing out an assist and grabbing a pair of steals at Pacific in Stockton, Calif., on Monday, April 5.  Pontre followed it up with a goal and a pair of steals in a 9-3 rout of the Tigers on Tuesday, April 6, prior to the Wolverines returning home to Ann Arbor, Mich.

On Sunday, April 11, at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., she dropped in a trio of tallies during a 15-6 defeat of the host Bison prior to adding a goal in a 20-3 managing of Saint Francis.
