BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sophie Jackson (Sr., West Yorkshire, England/The Crossley Heath Grammar School) of No. 5-ranked the University of Michigan helped the Wolverines post a 2-2 record during the Michigan Invitational over the weekend.  For her performance, Jackson is named the January 31 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

A three-time Defensive Player of the Week selection following recognition last week (January 24) after prior co-Defensive Player of the Week notice on April 26, 2021, Jackson played the second half of each game during the weekend with 19 saves and four steals.

She opened the weekend with five saves and a steal in 16 minutes of work as the Wolverines handled No. 6 the University of Hawaii by a 10-8 count on Saturday, January 29.  Following a three save performance in a 14-5 loss by the Maize & Blue to No. 2 Stanford University to cap off Day 1 competition, Jackson returned to the pool to post seven saves and two goals allowed as Michigan upended No. 23 Marist College, 13-5.  She capped off the four-game weekend by stopping three shots against No. 3 the University of California-Los Angeles in a 13-9 loss.
