BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Notre Dame will be hosting a women\’s water polo invitational tournament, The Irish Invitational, the weekend of February 23-24, 2019.

Notre Dame excited by the opportunity to host an invitational tournament this season. The hope is to provide an opportunity to a number of teams to come to South Bend and compete in at least four games over the course of the weekend.

The tournament will be a round robin format with a premium being placed on pairing teams that may not get a chance to play one another on a regular basis.

If Notre Dame gets enough teams to run the expected format, the fee for the weekend will be $440 for those who confirm and send checks prior to January 31 and $500 for those that enter after that. Should the team get more interest than pool time permits, preference will be given to those that respond earliest, and those who have hosted Notre Dame (for non Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) events) at their pool in the past, followed by CWPA Club member institutions.

All competition will take place in Rolf’s Aquatic Center on the University of Notre Dame campus. Rolf’s offers a 25M all deep facility with floating goals. It is the site of many CWPA regional championships as well as the 2011 Women’s CWPA National Collegiate Club Championship.

Notre Dame’s campus is located less than 100 miles from Chicago, for those contemplating a longer trip. Preferred hotel and travel information will follow for those who confirm.
