BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Olivia Sanders (Jr., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) of the University of Notre Dame racked up 24 saves with three goals allowed in seven quarters of work at home in the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Saturday-Sunday, April 15-16, during the 2023 Women’s Collegiate Club Midwest Division Championship to earn the division’s Player of the Week award.
She opened the weekend by making five saves with no goals allowed in two quarters of action as the Irish turned back Illinois State University, 15-2. In the semifinals versus Miami University (Ohio), she stopped seven of eight scoring tries in two quarters of action. Further, she scored a goal while playing goalkeeper for Notre Dame versus Miami to factor on both sides of the scoreboard.
Taking on Grand Valley State University on Sunday, April 16, for the division championship and a berth to the Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of California-Los Angeles on Friday-Sunday, May 5-7, she made 12 saves and allowed a pair of markers in three quarters as Notre Dame collected a 15-5 victory.
