UTICA, N.Y. — Former Utica College swimmer and water polo player Krysta Rehrig returns to her alma mater as an athletic assistant for the Utica College swimming and diving program. Rehrig will assist aquatics director and head coach Erin Knight with all aspects of the program including recruiting, practice and meet preparation, along with day-to-day operations in the office.
Rehrig attended Utica College and was a member of both the water polo and swimming teams. She was a three-time captain of the Pioneers’ water polo program and is one of just two players in program-history to score 100+ career goals. Rehrig was a freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke swimmer for the Pioneers during her collegiate career. She capped her swimming career with a personal best time of 1:11.62 as she finished in fifth place in the 100 yard breaststroke at the 2018 Empire 8 Championships.
She graduated in the Spring of 2018 from Utica College with a degree in criminal justice. She minored in fraud and financial investigation and cyber security. She was also a lifeguard for two years at Utica and worked with both children and adults, maintained pool chemicals, and helped with office work.
She recently spent time as a swim coach at the New Hartford Aquatics Club where she coached young children, taught new strokes and prepared her own practice plans.
Rehrig is originally from Pennsburg, Pa., where she attended Upper Perkiomen High School. In her senior season (2014) was the captain of both the water polo and swimming teams. She has also spent time as a swim lessons instructor, swim coach and life guard at the Upper Perkiomen Freedom Valley YMCA (2012-2017).
She was a National Honor Society member in high school and a National Society of Leadership and Success member in college. Her certifications include lifeguard, CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross.
