CHICAGO, Ill. — Fenwick High School announced the appointment of Brigitte Kusevskis, Class of 1996, as the institution’s Director of Aquatics and Assistant Athletic Director in support of girls’ athletics. She officially begins her new role on July 1.

A 2011 inductee to the Illinois Water Polo Hall of Fame, Brigitte (Bayster) Kusevskis ’96 was a member of the first class of women to enter Fenwick in August of 1992. Dr. Brigitte Kusevskis has served as Dean of Students at Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, Ill., since 2021. Since 2015, she has been the Assistant Boys’ Water Polo Coach at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill. (State Champions 2017 and 2021, State runners-up in 2015, 2016, 2023, and 2024).

Dr. Kusevskis has served in a number of teaching and school leadership positions at Loyola Academy, Niles North High School, and Palatine High School. She returned to Fenwick in 2005 and progressed from social studies teacher to department chair to Assistant Dean to Dean of Students. She remained at Fenwick until 2014.

The recipient of a PHD in educational leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, an M.A. in educational administration from Dominican University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Villanova University, she and her husband Michael have two children. Son Olin attends the United States Air Force Academy where he competes on the Falcons’ varsity men’s water polo team. Daughter Elsa is a senior at Stevenson and is planning to attend Augustana College to major in accounting and play water polo.

• Four-time state qualifier in the 200-medley relay, 100 back, and 400 free relay.
• Sectional champion in the 100 back in 1993.
• All-State honorable mention in 1993

• Illinois State player of the year in 1996

• CWPA All-East 1st team in 2000 and 2nd team in 1998
• CWPA All-Mid Atlantic Conference 1st team in 1998 and 2000, 2nd team in 1999.
• Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship All-Tournament Team, 1st team in 2000.
• All-Time Program Career Steal Leader
• All-Time Program Season Steal Leader in 98, 99 and 2000
• All-Time Program Assist Leader in 1999, and 4th in 2000
