STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner College men’s water polo team downed the Explorers of La Salle University, 21-10, in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region play to advance the Seahawks’ win streak to four games.

The Green & White offense began firing early, jumping to a 6-0 lead early in the first period, on goals from senior utility Devin O’Donnell (one), sophomore lefty Jack Leighton (two), sophomore driver Jasmin Kolasinac (one), senior driver Teo Dadic (one) and junior utility Lachlan Trabinger (one).

La Salle’s Daniel Domotor answered after six straight Seahawks’ tallies with one of his own to get the Explorers on the board before the horn sounded to conclude the first stanza.

Kolasinac opened the second period with back to back goals, the first of which just 40 seconds in, giving Wagner an 8-1 advantage. However, the Explorers answered, tallying their second goal of the game.

Sophomore two-meter András Bimbó-Szuhai found the back of the net moments after, followed by a goal from sophomore driver Jordi Alonso. Sophomore driver Kaelin Wolf notched his first goal of the season just minutes after Alonso, as the score was 11-2 at the end of 16 minutes.

To start the second half, O’Donnell tallied his second followed by another from Kolasinac and a second from Wolf, setting the score at 14-2.

Junior driver Matthew Miller registered his first goal of the game with just under four minutes to play in the third period. La Salle was able to sneak two more past senior goalie Cameron Woldt.

A long dish from Wolf to find junior driver Oscar Nomura helped the Seahawks find the back of the net once again, which was then answered by an Explorer goal.

Kolasinac scored his fourth goal of the afternoon followed by senior driver Cole Grady‘s first before the conclusion of the third quarter with the score set at 18-5.

The fourth and final stanza included goals from O’Donnell (two), junior utility Mike Ward (one) and five from the Explorers, in establishing the 21-10 final score.

Woldt blocked seven shots in the win for the Green & White.
