BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Wagner College’s Ethan Zirh (Jr., Sydney, Australia Castle Hill High School) made 40 saves during a 2-2 weekend on the West Coast at the Gary Troyer Tournament to earn recognition as the October 4 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

He opened the event on Friday, October 1, with nine saves and two steals in a 10-8 loss to No. 19-ranked Santa Clara University before away 10 shots with a steal in a 13-8 defeat of Division III No. 4 Whittier College.  On Saturday, October 2, he blocked 10 shots in a 17-11 handling of Division III No. 5 Chapman University before making 11 saves in a 14-13 loss to Division III No. 1/No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

The award marks the third Defensive Player of the Week nod bestowed on Zirh as he previously shared recognition on November 4, 2019 with then teammate Lachlan Trabinger and earlier this season on September 20 with Luca Castorina (So., Catania, Sicily Liceo Galileo Galilei) of George Washington University.
