BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Mattia Bognolo (So., Canberra, Australia/Daramalan College) of Wagner College is among 15 athletes selected to compete for Australia at the 2023 World Aquatics U20 Water Polo Championships in Romania from June 10-17.

He is among three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) athletes to make the roster as Bognolo joins the Universit of Southern California’s Andrej Grgurevic and the University of California-Irvine’s Luka Krstic.

“The team is highly motivated to win every match they play. They are an exceptional group of athletes and amazing people who have dedicated a lot of effort and sacrifice to represent Australia overseas with pride,” noted Australia head coach Vedran Cirkovic.

Bognolo started all 34 games for Wagner in 2021 as a freshman.  During his inaugural season in Staten Island, he posted 39 goals and led the team in steals with 48.  In 2022, he notched 51 goals and 32 steals in 31 games to raise his career totals to 90 goals and 80 steals in 65 games.
