BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Ally Hopkins (Sr., Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) of Division III No. 9-ranked Washington & Jefferson College turned aside 38 shots over the span of four games to earn notice as the April 3 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week.

The award marks the seventh weekly honor from the league office for Hopkins as she claimed accolades as the March 3 and March 31 Division III Defensive Player of the Week in 2014 before picking up February 23 and March 23 Division III Defensive Player of the Week laurels in 2015. She was named the March 14 and April 18 Division III Defensive Player of the Week last year.

Facing Grove City College and Penn State Behrend in both home and road games on Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2, she opened the weekend with nine and eight saves, respectively, in 7-6 victories at Penn State Behrend and Grove City on Saturday, April 1.  At home in Henry Memorial Natatorium on Sunday, April 2, Hopkins handled her business in swatting away seven shots in a 12-6 defeat of Grove City with 14 stops in an 11-8 victory over Penn State Behrend as the Presidents remain perfect in CWPA Division III league play with an unblemished 9-0 mark.
