BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The best-of the-best in college recruits will head to Fordham University this fall as Water Polo Wednesday released its Freshmen to Watch, Top Five Recruiting Classes and Preseason All-America lists.
Among the Top Five Recruiting Classes, the Rams of defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Fordham top the nation. The Rams top the University of Southern California (USC), the University of California, the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) and Stanford University as the best crop of incoming talent will head to The City So Nice They Named It Twice with eyes on capturing the inaugural National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship by an institution outside the state of California.
Leading the charge will be preseason All-America pick/reigning MAWPC Player of the Year/2025 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) First Team All-America honoree Andras Toth (Jr., Pecs, Hungary/PTE Babits Gyakorlo Gimnazium) who rates as the only East Coast Preseason All-America pick.
Joining him will be four Freshman to Watch – the most for any team in the nation – as Toth gains offensive and defensive assistance from center Karlo Dragosevic (Fr., Split, Croatia/Economic & Administrative School), attacker Oktavian Veklyuk (Fr., San Miniato, Italy/Coleggio Emiliani), goalkeeper Viktor Savic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia/Fourth Belgrade Gymnasium) and two-meter defender Balazs Bathory (So., Hódmezovásárhely, Hungary/Gregus Máté Agricultural, Technical & Vocational School (Univ. of Szeged)).
A total of six athletes from the MAWPC and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) earned Freshmen to Watch status as utility athlete Oliver Marcin (Fr., Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep.) of Princeton University and attacker Clay Carrington (Fr., Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heart Preparatory) of Harvard University are also potential impact athletes on the national stage.
