BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Following the decision of Women’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division Champion Tufts University to not attend the 2018 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the University of Washington at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore., on Friday-Sunday, May 4-6, division runner-up Wellesley College has informed the league of their intent to accept the bid.

The Blue, who last appeared in the 2016 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the University of California-Santa Cruz as the North Atlantic Division Championship runner-up following the election of then division champion Yale University to not attend, will play out of the No. 11 position and will take on the victor of the Midwest Division on Friday, May 4.

In 2016, Wellesley tied for 15th at UC-Santa Cruz with Heartland Division Champion Washington University in St. Louis.

This marks the third time Wellesley has appeared at the National Collegiate Club Championship – all as the North Atlantic Division Championship runner-up.

In 2012, the Blue made their first appearance as division champion Bowdoin College decided not to attend the Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.  Wellesley tied for 15th with Northwest Division Champion the University of Oregon.
