BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Isaac Thorman (So., New York, N.Y./Fieldston School) of Wesleyan University was selected to compete on the Open Water Polo Team at the 15th European Maccabi Games which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary.

The Open Water Polo Team, which will be led by Joey Gullikson, the University of Pacific Associate Head Coach for men’s and women’s water polo, is comprised of 11 athletes from across the country. In total, Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.

The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.

Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition. We connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community.  Our athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
