NORTON, Mass. — Wheaton College, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III institution located in Norton, Massachusetts, is looking for a motivated, energetic, passionate and caring individual to serve as the inaugural head coach of men’s and women’s water polo.
This individual will recruit, build and lead the Lyons’ newly created intercollegiate water polo programs.
The head coach will spend their initial year preparing for the program’s first ever season in 2023-24. Once the program is created, the head coach prepares the team for a full intercollegiate varsity season, including:
- In-season and non-traditional practices
- Scouting of opponents and match preparation.
- Develop a recruiting plan and evaluate and identify qualified student-athletes.
- Prepare and manage operating, recruiting and fundraising budgets.
- Commitment to working and teaching within an environment that embraces the holistic development of the student-athlete.
- Serve in an administrative capacity as needed and directed by the Athletic Administration.
- Comply with all NCAA Division III, Conference and Wheaton College rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of intercollegiate water polo assistant coaching experience (or equivalent experience within club coaching, national team coaching and/or interscholastic high school coaching within the sport of water polo).
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of head coaching experience at the intercollegiate level (or equivalent head coaching experience within the sport of water polo).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, bend, sit, kneel regularly and the ability to maneuver between these positions regularly for multiple hours at a time.
- Ability to lift 20-45 pound objects regularly.
- Ability to travel by car, bus, plane and various modes of transportation.
