BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former Brown University men’s and women’s water polo head coach Jason Gall continues to be involved in the sport as the Aquatics Director and Head Coach of the boys and girls water polo, swim and dive teams at Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield, Calif.

Prior to arriving at Garces in June of 2017 following the elimination of women’s water polo as a varsity sport at California State University-Bakersfield (CSUB), Gall spent 10 years as CSUB head women’s water polo coach. Gall became the all-time winningest coach at Bakersfield on March 25, 2012 when the Roadrunners defeated University of Redlands, 9-6. He won his 100th match as CSU Bakersfield’s head coach on March 17, 2013 when CSUB defeated Marist College 10-5. 

Further, Gall won his 200th match all time, as a head women’s water polo coach on March 27, 2011 against California State University-San Bernardino.

Gall led the Roadrunners to a pair of third place showings at the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship in 2009 and 2010 for a program best finish. Courtesy his 2009 efforts, Gall was named WWPA Coach of the Year.

Prior to arriving in Bakersfield, Gall spent three seasons (2006-to-2008) as head coach at Brown. Gall qualified both the men’s and women’s teams to the Eastern Championship tournament in each of his seasons there at Brown as the Bears were 56-41 in women’s competition and 60-33 in men’s action during his tenure in Providence, R.I.

Prior to his stint at Brown, Gall was the head coach of the women’s polo squad at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges from 1998-to-2004, adding the coaching duties of the Sagehens’ men’s team in 2002.

In men’s play, Pomona-Pitzer won the 2004 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and placed second in the Division III championships.

In his six years as the head coach of the women’s program, Gall led Pomona-Pitzer to a 82-52 record. Further, he guided the men’s team to a 21-41 mark in two seasons.

Gall’s combined record as a collegiate water polo coach is 357-351, including a 276-287 mark in women’s competition.

A 1997 graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, he earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2001. Named a first-team All-America selection at Long Beach City College in 1993, helped USC finished second in the nation in 1996.
