BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former Harvard University water polo athlete Bill Wolff has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a producer and more recently ESPN Vice President of Studio Production.

Previously the Executive Producer of The View and vice president of prime-time programming for the cable news channel MSNBC, as well as the executive producer of The Rachel Maddow Show, Wolff was born in 1953 and is a graduate of Clayton High School in Clayton, Missouri.  He attended Harvard and was a varsity water polo team member during his tenure in Cambridge prior to graduating with a degree in American History.

Wolff produced ESPN’s Around the Horn (where he was also the “disembodied voice”) and Fox Sports Net’s I, Max, two sports commentary shows hosted by Max Kellerman, and served as a “judge” for the latter program. Wolff was awarded an Emmy for Best Sports Journalism for his work on Outside the Lines and created, launched, and produced the network’s long-running program Around the Horn.

At ESPN, he helped produce SportsCenter and Sunday NFL Countdown prior to leaving in 2004 for MSNBC.

At MSNBC, he was the executive producer of The Situation with Tucker Carlson, later called Tucker, before a promotion in 2005 to Vice President of Prime Time Programming. Wolff was also seen on Tucker filling in for Willie Geist and reporting on entertainment news. He left MSNBC in August 2014 to become a part of The View.

Following tenures at The View and the Chelsea Handler’s Netflix series, he returned to ESPN in May 2017 for his current position as Vice President of Studio Programming.  He is responsible for the network’s opinion-based studio content and the NBA pregame and halftime offerings.

Beyond his television experience, Wolff has sold multiple motion picture screenplays, including the FOX studio comedy “Rebound.”
