BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) takes pride in the success of its alumni – especially in the field of athletics. In the latest of a series on past league athletes who have excelled away from the water, the league spotlights Ohio University alum and Orland Solar Bears’ Team Physician Dr. Randall Rust.
An orthopaedic surgen at Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic in Orlando who specializes in Sports Medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder and knee surgery, Dr. Rust obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ohio University where he graduated summa cum laude in 2004. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio, and completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Board-certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Rust was Best Teaching Resident in 2008 and Resident of the Year in 2010. The Team Physician for the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Dr. Phillip’s High School, and was previously the Assistant Team Physician for the Cincinnati Bengals and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.
A member of the Ohio University men’s club water polo team during his time in Athens, Ohio, Dr. Rust is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Orange County Medical Society, and Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
