BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Following league competition on Saturday, March 21, at Princeton University, seeding for the 2026 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship on Friday-Sunday, April 10-12, at the University of Michigan will come down to a single game at Brown University on April 4.
Three positions for the seven-team championship are known as Bucknell University, Mercyhurst University and Saint Francis University locked-up the No. 5-to-7 positions based on 2-4, 1-5 and 0-6 league records, respectively.
The remaining four seeds are dependent upon the victor of a game on Saturday, April 4, in Providence, R.I., matching host/No. 22 Brown versus No. 11-ranked Harvard University.
A win by Brown over Harvard will seed No. 16 Princeton No. 1, No. 10 Michigan No. 2, Brown No. 3 and Harvard No. 4 due to Princeton holding a head-to-head win versus Michigan and Brown then holding a head-to-head defeat of Harvard.
However, if Harvard defeats Brown, then Harvard, Princeton and Michigan all hold 5-1 marks, while Brown slips to 3-3 and claims the No. 4 seed. The tie between Harvard, Princeton and Michigan is broken by goal differential in their meetings with one another. Since Michigan defeated Harvard (14-13) and Princeton knocked off Michigan (9-8), Harvard claims the No. 1 seed in that case due to defeating Princeton 8-5. Princeton will then take the No. 2 seed due to its head-to-head victory over Michigan.
