BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2025 women’s collegiate club season will have a new look following the dissolution of the Heartland Division and the splitting of the Sierra Pacific Division into the Sierra Pacific and Bay Area Divisions.
Due to not meeting a minimum of teams competing for the upcoming season, the Heartland Division – which was comprised of Carleton College, Grinnell College and Knox College in 2024 prior to the division slate being canceled in late February – is eliminated. The division was formed in 1999 and competed in a portion of every season prior to the 2025 campaign with the exception of 2000 and the COVID-19 impacted 2020 and 2021 seasons..
Due to elimination of the the Heartland Division creating an open position for the 16-team National Collegiate Club Championship field, the Sierra Pacific Division – in which the University of California-Davis “A” and “B”, the University of California-Santa Cruz “A” and “B”, the University of California, California State University-Chico, California State University Maritime, Saint Mary’s College (Calif.) and the University of San Francisco competed during the 2024 season – is split into two separate divisions – the Sierra Pacific and newly formed Bay Area Divisions.
The grouping of Cal Maritime, Chico State, California, UC-Davis and new member the University of Nevada will retain the name “Sierra Pacific Division” for the 2025 season, while San Francisco, Saint Mary’s, UC-Santa Cruz and new members Stanford University and San Jose State University take on the moniker of the “Bay Area Division”.
The division name “Bay Area” was selected by the teams from options that included Golden State, Golden Gate, Redwood, Sequoia and Yosemite.
