BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Zsofia Polak (Jr., Dunaujvaros, Hungary/Rudas) repeated as the Anna Meyer Female Athlete of the Year and Lena Kotanchyan (Fr., Moscow, Russia/Elk Island School #368) received the Brunhilde Klinger Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Female Freshman Athlete at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Athletics Awards Ceremony.
Polak, was also named the Hartwick water polo team’s Most Valuable Player, received the Anna Meyer Female Athlete of the Year Award for the second consecutive year.
She earned Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) First Team and the CWPA Championship All-Tournament First Team honors for the second consecutive season while helping Hartwick water polo to a third-place finish at the conference championships. She led the Hawks with 92 goals, 56 assists, and 148 points and became just the third player in program history to reach 400 points in her career.
The recipient Brunhilde Klinger Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Female Freshman Athlete, Kotanchyan was selected to the CWPA First Team and the CWPA Championship All-Tournament First Team in addition to being named the conference’s Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the Tournament at the CWPA Champioship. Kotanchyan was second on the team in goals (84), assists (33), points (117) and she led the team in steals (62).
