Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education Top 100 Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Led by top-ranked Williams College, 19 institutions that field either a men’s and/or women’s varsity or collegiate club team in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) rate on the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education Top 100 Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States list.

A total of six CWPA schools are among the Top 10 and 13 of the Top 25 belong to the league as Amherst College (No. 2), Wellesley College (No. 4), Middlebury College (No. 7), Carleton College (No. 8), Bowdoin College (No. 10), Wesleyan University (No. 11), Bucknell University (No. 14), Colgate University (No. 15), Hamilton College (No. 16), Colby College (No. 19), Macalester College (No. 20) and Grinnell College (No. 24) all rank among the upper echelon of the best liberal arts institutions in the nation.

Bucknell and Macalester are the highest ranked institutions that field varsity teams in the CWPA as the Bison compete in the CWPA administered Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) for the men and the CWPA for the women to accompany a men’s collegiate club team, while Macalester competes in the CWPA Division III ranks for the women and fields a men’s collegiate club program.

Fellow varsity program Connecticut College, which also competes in the MAWPC for the men and the CWPA Division III group for the women, rates at No. 32 with Bates College (No. 35) completing the CWPA’s representation in the Top 50 prior to Knox College (No. 73) rounding out the squads in the Top 75.

Washington & Jefferson College, which competes with Connecticut as a member of the MAWPC for the men and the CWPA Division III group for the women, comes in at No. 77 with Saint John’s University (No. 85) and Augustana College (No. 89) completing the league’s ranked teams.
