BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — After two years of postponements due to the pandemic, the first USA Water Polo Division III Women’s Collegiate National Championship is set to occur on Saturday-Sunday, May 7-8, in Claremont, Calif., on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
The Sagehens earned hosting honors after claiming the 2022 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship via a 16-12 defeat of Whittier College in the title game. Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Champion Austin College – which defeated Augustana College by an 18-7 score – claims the No. 2 position, while SCIAC runner-up Whittier and CWPA Division III runner-up Augustana claim the No. 3 and 4 positions.
Competition begins on Saturday, May 7, as Pomona-Pitzer faces Augustana at 2:00 p.m. Pacific prior to Austin and Whittier clashing at 4:00 p.m. The Third Place (10:30 a.m.) and title game (12:30 p.m.) are slated for Sunday, May 8, with both days’ competition occurring at Pomona-Pitzer’s Haldeman Pool.
