BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Week 5/October 21 Men’s Collegiate Club Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls.

Released each week during the season, the Top 20 and Division III Top 10 polls have no bearing on qualifiers for either the National Collegiate Club Championship or the Division III Collegiate Club Championship.

2021 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 (Week 5/October 21)

The University of California-San Diego takes over at No. 1 as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Week 5/October 21 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 rankings.

The first seven teams in the Top 20 all hail from the Golden State of California as UC-San Diego (96 points) moves up from No. 2, San Diego State University (93 points) rises two spots to No. 2, the University of Southern California (86 points) falls back to No. 3, the University of California (79 points) inches up to No. 4, California Polytechnic State University (74 points) and California State University Maritime Academy (74 points) are tied at No. 5 and previously unranked California State University-Chico (66 points) cracks the Top 20 at No. 7. 

Michigan State University (61 points) shatters the “Golden State” string at No. 8 with Florida State University (51 points) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech, 43 points) rounding out the Top 10.

The University of Texas (41 points), Pennsylvania State University (37 points), Texas A&M University (35 points), the University of Colorado (30 points) and the University of Florida (28 points) rate at No. 11-to-15 with the United States Naval Academy (25 points) and the University of Alabama (25 points) tying at No. 16.

The University of California-Los Angeles (22 points) and the University of Michigan (19 points) attain the No. 17 and 18 spots, while Boston College (13 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (13 points) are equals at No. 20.

The 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship will be decided at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday-Sunday, November 12-14.

2021 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 (Week 5/October 21)

Seven-time defending Division III Collegiate Club National Champion Washington University in St. Louis remains the top pick as the Bears are once again the unanimous No. 1 selection in the 2021 Week 5/October 21 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 Poll.

The 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Division III Collegiate Club Champion, Washington in St. Louis (100 points) holds a nine-point lead over Grinnell College (91 points).  Grinnell acquires sole custody of the runner-up position after tying with now No. 3 New York University (90 points) last week.

Macalester College (80 points), Bowdoin College (77 points), the United States Coast Guard Academy (70 points), Carnegie Mellon University (66 points), Colby College (65 points), the University of California-Santa Cruz (59 points) and Tufts University (58 points) conclude the Top 10 by retaining their prior rankings at No. 4-to-10, respectively.

The 2021 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship Men’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship was canceled due to a lack of pool availability on a Division III campus or in the community surrounding a campus.
