BRONX, N.Y. — After helping Fordham University water polo to its finest season, graduate student Hans Zdolsek (Linkoping, Sweden/Katedralskolan/Whittier College) claimed the 2021 Swedish Men’s Water Polo Player of the Year award, presented by the Swedish Swim Federation, Svensk Simidrott.

Svensk Simidrott honored athletes in swimming, diving, water polo, and coaching for the performances during the 2021 calendar year.

An Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Honorable Mention All-America selection, Zdolsek received First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East for the second straight season in 2021 and was the first Ram to be named the Most Valuable Player of the MAWPC East after a superb all-around season for the nationally ranked Rams.

Zdolsek earned Most Outstanding Player accolades at the MAWPC Championship, which Fordham won for the first time in team history, earning a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.  He finished the year with 47 goals, 38 assists, 43 steals, and a team-best 19 blocks.  His 47 goals tied for fourth on the team with 12 coming on the man-advantage, which was fourth on the squad.
