NEW LONDON, Conn. — Morgan Fingerson (Fr., San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) scored four times and Maggie Hennigan (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) added a hat-trick as five different Lady Reds’ players scored in a 12-2 victory by Carthage College over Utica College in the concluding game of the weekend for both teams at Connecticut College during the opening tournament of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III play.
Aided by four assists from goalie Emma Jeronimus (Fr., Hoffman Estates, Ill./Fremd), the Lady Reds ran out to a 7-0 lead by halftime prior to outscoring Utica 5-1 in the third quarter to claim a 12-1 lead after 24 minutes of play.
Jane Eckles (So., Merced, Calif./Merced) and Jessica Graziano (So., Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) scored twice for Carthage to join Fingerson and Hennigan in notching multi-goal games. Carly Strass (Sr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) netted the Lady Reds’ other tally.
Daniella Hannah (Fr., Dalton, Georgia/Northwest Whitfield) and Hnyla Sloan (So., Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) racked up the Pioneers’ pair of points in taking the loss.
