2018 NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championship Central

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Fans unable to make the trip to the University of Southern California’s Uytengsu Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday-Sunday, May 11-13, for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Championship can follow all the action via video-streaming on NCAA.com and live statistics on TheFosh.net.

Automatic qualifiers were awarded to the Big West Conference (University of California-Irvine), Collegiate Water Polo Association (University of Michigan), Golden Coast Conference (University of the Pacific), Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (Wagner College), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (USC), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (Pomona-Pitzer Colleges) and the Western Water Polo Association (University of California-San Diego). The remaining three teams (Stanford University, University of California, University of Calfornia-Los Angeles) were selected at large without geographical restrictions.

In the opening round games on Wednesday, May 8, UC-San Diego (24-11) will play Wagner (24-6). The winner will be placed in the championship bracket to play the host Trojans (23-1) in Game 1 at Noon Pacific/3:00 p.m. Eastern on May 11. In the other opening round game, UC-Irvine (14-13) will play Pomona-Pitzer (21-10), with the winner advancing to the championship bracket to play Stanford (18-3) in Game 3 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific/6:30 p.m. Eastern on May 11.

Rounding out the bracket will be UCLA (22-7) facing University of the Pacific (18-7) in Game 2 at 1:45 p.m. Pacific/4:45 p.m. Eastern and California (19-5) competing against Michigan (32-8) in Game 4 at 5:15 p.m. Pacific/8:15 p.m. Eastern on May 11.

The victors of the May 11 games advance into the semifinals on Saturday, May 12, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific/6:00 p.m. Eastern and 5:00 p.m. Pacific/8:00 p.m. Eastern with the two finalists clashing on Sunday, May 13, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific/6:00 p.m. Eastern for the National Championship.
