ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Mount St. Mary’s University crumbled against the United States Air Force Academy’s defense in the final quarter as the Falcons claimed a 17-13 victory in Lejeune Hall on the final day of the 2026 Navy Open hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
In the first quarter, Luka Urosevic put the Mountaineers on the scoreboard with a goal only a minute into the contest. Air Force responded with a goal of its own 30 seconds later, before Will Matthews scored to add his name to the scoresheet. Again, Air Force was able to find the back of the net a minute later, followed shortly by a goal from Giannis Skliras. This pattern continued once more as Air Force scored and Aleksandar Radosavljevic responded to keep MSM ahead by one. The Falcons managed to level the damage at five-all by the conclusion of the opening eight minutes as Air Force pumped in a pair to push ahead before Neven Cerkez delivered an equalizer.
The Mount opened the second quarter with another goal coming from Radosavljevic within the first minute. The first half pattern returned as the teams exchanged scoring blows with with goals coming from Skliras and Urosevic for the Mountaineers. In the closing minutes of the first half, Urosevic added another goal to his tally to stake Mount St. Mary’s to a 9-7 lead heading into the break.
However, Air Force pulled away in the third quarter as the Falcons went on a 5-0 run before the Mount was able to strike again with a goal coming from Cerkez to push out to a 12-10 margin leading into the fourth quarter..
The pattern of Mount St. Mary’s and Air Force exchanging goal occurred two more times in the fourth quarter as Aaron Tarr and one from Nikos Agritelis dented the twine. Agritelis posted the last Mount goal before Air Force went on a 3-0 run to end the game with a 17-13 victory.
Urosevic led the Mountaineers on the day with three goals, while Skliras, Cerkez, Radosavljevic and Tarr scored twice. Agritelis and Matthews both punched in solo markers.
