2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Southeast Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Southeast Division schedule.
Comprised of Auburn University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, George Southern University, Kennesaw State University, the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee, the division will contest its 21st season as part of the CWPA with the University of Florida (2000, 2001), Georgia Tech (2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011), Florida International University (2004, 2005, 2006), Georgia (2010, 2013, 2015), Vanderbilt University (2012, 2014), Clemson University (2016) and Alabama (2017, 2018, 2019) previously claiming titles. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 season will be unique for the Southeast Division as the group will crossover with the Florida Division for “A” and “B” Championships to determine the final order of standing.
Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, September 25-26, at Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., as 14 games will occur to open the Southeast Division slate.
A tournament on Saturday-Sunday, October 9-10, will conclude the Southeast Division regular season docket as Georgia Southern hosts 14 games in Statesboro, Georgia.
The regular season tournaments will establish the seeds for the Southeast Division as the No. 5 and 6 seeds will take on the Florida Division’s No. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 seeds in a 12-game “B” Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24, at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
A week later, the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 regular season finishers from the Florida Division along with the No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 finishers from the Southeast Division head to Tallahassee, Fla., for a 12-game “A” Championship at Florida State University.
The top finishing Florida and Southeast Division teams earn their group’s automatics berth to the 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Alabama at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday-Sunday, November 12-14. Alabama is guaranteed a position in the National Collegiate Club Championship field as the second finishing Southeast Division will punch its ticket to the championship if the Crimson Tide are the highest finishing Southeast team at the Florida/Southeast “A” Championship.
