LEBANON, Ill. — McKendree University is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as the full-time varsity assistant/head collegiate club coach at the institution. The water polo program at McKendree consists of both a men’s (Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference) and women’s (Western Water Polo Association) teams, as well as a men’s team that competes at the collegiate club level (Collegiate Water Polo Association).
The position assists the head water polo coach in all phases of the men’s and women’s water polo programs. Further, the assistant coach will aid in planning and the training for all three teams both in and out of the pool and will be expected to coach and teach male and female water polo student-athletes, aid in player development, video analysis and overall team organization and instruction. He or she will also assist the head coach with administrative duties as assigned, the planning of team travel, recruiting, fundraising, and completion of compliance-based tasks.
Knowledge of, and experience with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II rules is strongly desired in the successful candidate.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral communication, written communication, and computer skills are required. Leadership abilities in both everyday tasks and in high pressure situations are an absolute must and frequent travel is also required.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and collegiate/high school coaching experience. Collegiate coaching experience is preferred as the assistant coach will also serve as the head coach of the men’s club program and will take on a leadership role on pool deck and administratively for this task. Collegiate water polo playing experience strongly is desired.
