Israel will be in Group D for the preliminary stages of the championship, which will take place August 29 through September 10.   Israel opened preliminary action on Monday, August 29, against Olympic champion Serbia, falling by a score of 18-3.  Gross played just under 13 minutes in the opening match, posting two shots and two steals.GrossIsraelEC2

Israel will also play Slovenia (August 31) and Hungary (September 2) in preliminary round action.  Ranking games take place on September 4 with quarterfinal action on September 6.  The semifinals and championship final will be on September 8 and 10, respectively.

Gross, a 6-4 center from Hod Hasharon, Israel, is a transfer from the University of California-Davis, where he was a two-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Second Team All-America and First Team All-Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) pick, as well as the 2021 WWPA Player of the Year.

Over three seasons with UC Davis, he totaled 147 goals and 18 assists, and helped the team to the semifinals of the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
