LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Saint Francis University women’s water polo team picked up a 16-11 win against host Bucknell University after taking a 22-6 setback against No. 9-ranked the University of Michigan in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) competition on the first day of the 2023 Bucknell Invitational.
Saint Francis, which now stands at 1-1 in league play,was led in scoring against Bucknell by senior Abigail Carter who posted five goals.
Saint Francis – which improves to 3-0 in its last three meetings versus Bucknell and now stands at 3-12 all-time against the Bison – never gave up the lead for the duration of the game as they had at least a one goal lead at the end of each quarter.
Kayla Rhoads and Emese Szucs also stacked up the scoring sheet as they both finished with three goals.
Taylor Halbauer and Caylah Olay rounded out the SFU scoring with two goals a piece.
Facing the defending CWPA Champion Wolverines of Michigan, Szucs and Addison Williams both scored twice to lead the Red Flash.
Tori Navarro and Halbauer rounded out the Red Flash scoring with one goal a piece for the Red Flash.
