MORGANTOWN, W.Va. —  Mount St. Mary’s University overcame Gannon University, 13-9, and Penn State Berhend, 16-7, on the final day of the 2023 Salem Invitational hosted by Salem University at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.

Facing Gannon,  Eli Thalos and Aaron Tarr led the way for the Mountaineers. Thalos shot five-for-six from the field with a steal and an assist, while Tarr cashed in for two goals and snagged seven steals.

The Mountaineers scored four goals in the first half and held Gannon to three for a halftime lead. Mount St. Mary’s pulled away in the the third quarter with a 5-2 scoring margin on the way to a 13-9 victory.

The team closed out the weekend by scoring 16 goals to top PSU Behrend as nine different Mountaineers scored in the game.

Mount St. Mary’s put the game away early by outscoring the Lions 12-2 in the first half and cruised to a 16-7 win.

Alexandros Bellesis finished the day with seven goals, while Tarr tacked on six.
