BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announces the organization’s 2024 women’s varsity and collegiate club Scholar-Athlete Teams.
Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the 2023 men’s season.
To be selected, student-athletes must be active participants on a team and a full-time student at the institution which nominated them. Freshmen through graduate students are eligible for the award.
Nominees must achieve a 3.2 cumulative Grade Point Average or higher based on the most recent grades.
In addition, varsity and collegiate club teams with reported cumulative GPAs at or above 2.75 were recognized by the conferences for overall excellence.
In the varsity ranks, Augustana College, Austin College, Brown University, Bucknell University, Carthage College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, Harvard University, Macalester College, Penn State Behrend, Princeton University, Saint Francis University, the University of Michigan, Washington & Jefferson College and Wheaton College combine for 86 Outstanding (4.00-3.71), 67 Superior (3.70-3.41) and 28 Excellent (3.40-3.20) accolades.
In addition, 14 CWPA schools surpass at 2.75 team grade point average as Macalester (3.77), Connecticut (3.73), Harvard (3.70), Brown (3.67), Wheaton (3.63), Saint Francis (3.48), Carthage (3.45), Michigan (3.45), Princeton (3.44), Grove City (3.34), Penn State Behrend (3.34), Augustana (3.31), Bucknell (3.31) and Austin (3.21) garner team laurels.
Varsity selections were also recognized on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic team.
Among the reporting club teams, a total of 165 Outstanding (4.00-3.71), 62 Superior (3.70-3.41) and 32 Excellent (3.40-3.20) nods are awarded for academic performance. Bates College (3.86), Washington University in St. Louis (3.83), the University of California-San Diego (3.81), Northeastern University (3.734), the University of California-San Diego “B” (3.73), San Diego State University “B” (3.71) and San Diego State University “A” (3.52) received team recognition.
