PROVIDENCE, R.I. — No. 24-ranked Brown University dropped an 11-7 contest against No. 16 the University of Michigan and eluded Saint Francis University, 8-6, in a pair of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) home games.
The Bears fell to Michigan in their first matchup of the day, netting seven goals to the Wolverine’s eleven. Hanna Tidrenczel, Aubrie Anderson and Samantha Kim picked up two goals apiece, while Claire Poissonnier logged one.
Michigan used a 4-0 run after Brown had cut the lead to 3-2, to take 7-2 lead and the Bears were not able to climb back into the game.
The Bears came out on top in their second matchup of the day, defeating Saint Francis by two.
Anderson was first to get Brown on the board in the first quarter followed by Ella Palmer and Madeleine Poissonnier. Sofia Holman struck twice in the second quarter, alongside Madeleine Poissonnier and Kim to bring the halftime score to 6-5 in the Bears’ favor.
Kim and Holman picked up one more apiece in the third and fourth quarters to maintain a one point advantage over SFU and collect the win.
