IRVINE, Calif. — Olivia Hopper and Izzy Lippolis scored six and four times, respectively, to lead the way for Bucknell University as the Bison overwhelmed host Concordia University, 21-10, at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.

The Bison (10-5) pulled away from the Eagles (2-14) by outscoring Concordia 6-2, 4-2, 6-3 and 5-3 in the first-to-fourth quarters to garner the team’s 10th victory of the season.

Anna Tyukasz broke the ice in the game by firing in the opening salvo to stake Concordia to a 1-0 lead 22 seconds into the game.  Bella Schraa (6:50), Olivia Hopper (5:40, man-up; 3:08, man-up) and Ashley Hopper (2:30) pushed Bucknell in front to stay at 4-1 prior to Allyson Corbett snapping the run by trimming Concordia’s deficit to 4-2 with 2:14 on the clock.

The Bison’s lead expanded to four goals prior to the conclusion of the opening eight minutes as Ashley Hopper buried consecutive five-meter penalty shots at 2:05 and 1:13 to make it a 6-2 affair entering the second quarter.

Following over three minutes of scoreless back-and-forth action in the second quarter, Munroe Blem (4:52) delivered a response for Concordia at 2:52 to trim the margin to 6-3. 

Caitlin Stott (4:37) and Sierrah Ferguson (3:48) traded goals to keep the spread at three goals (7-4) prior to Lippolis (3:20, man-up; 18 seconds) and Boati Motau (2:41) completing the first half with a 3-0 Bison outburst for a 10-4 lead at the contest’s midway point.

Gwen Kallmeyer (7:04) insulated the lead further by commencing the third quarter with a man-up tally 56 seconds into the frame.  Tyukasz inched Concordia back to within six goals at 12-5 courtesy her own six-on-five conversion at 6:54, but Olivia Hopper hurled in even-strength (6:34) and penalty shot (5:53) scores.  Tuykasz (4:25) notched her own five-meter strike at 4:25 before Stott (4:07, man-up) and Lippolis (2:34) countered for the Bison.

Sofia Dominguez (2:29) put Concordia back on the scoreboard at 2:29, but Campbell Collins (2:16) and Amy Pischke (7:10) closed the third quarter and opened the fourth quarters, respectively, to inflate the lead to 17-7.

Allyson Corbett (6:57) pulled the host Eagles back to within nine at 17-8 before Lippolis (6:35) and Ferguson (6:19) retorted to set the scoreboard at 18-9. 

Rhys Beutler (6:00) and Olivia Hopper (3:45, man-up; 1:57, man-up) sandwiched a man-up score by Tyukasz (5:47) for the final offense as the Bison claimed an 11-goal victory.

For Concordia, Tyukasz (four), Ferguson (two), Corbett (two), Dominguez and Blem notched scores.  Goalkeepers Sydney Eisberg (five saves, 21 goals against, 30:03) and Grace Noyes (two saves, 1:57) combined for seven stops in cage.

Olivia Hopper (six), Lippolis (four), Ashley Hopper (three, one assist), Stott (two, one assist), Collins (one, three assists), Motau (one, three assists), Beutler (one, one assist), Kallmeyer (one), Schraa (one), Pischke (one), Ava Bayne (one assist) and Regan Coon (one assist) accounted for Bucknell’s offense in support of a nine-save effort by goalkeeper Tamara Torkos.
