BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Recent Princeton University graduate Roko Pozaric (Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Titusa Brezovackog) converted on two-of-seven shots in regulation and won all four sprints in 28:02 action, but Brazil rallied back in the fourth quarter and out performed Canada by an 8-7 count in a penalty shoot-out to pick up a 19-18 victory in both teams’ final game in Group C at the 2025 World Aquatics Championship in Singapore, Republic of Singapore.

Following an 18-9 loss to the United States of America on Saturday, July 12, and a 22-10 victory over host Singapore on Monday, July 14, Canada was seeking to top Brazil and earn a runner-up finish in Group C behind Team USA. Due to the loss, Canada earns a Third Place mark and will return to the water in a crossover game at 8:45 a.m. Eastern/5:45 a.m. Pacific on Friday, July 18, against Montenegro.
Montenegro claimed second place in Group D as the team defeated Greece (10-9 W) and the People’s Republic of China (13-8 W) to accompany a loss to Croatia (13-11 L).
Pozaric, who shot zero-for-three on action shots in 20 minutes of action with a steal and three sprint victories on four attempts against the Americans prior to shooting one-for-three (one-for-two on action shots / zero-for-one man-up) and snagging a steal in 23:46 of playing time versus Singapore, helped Canada race out to a 6-2 lead by the conclusion of the first quarter.
Leading 7-5 entering halftime, the Canadians held on for a 10-9 margin exiting the third quarter prior to Brazil squaring the squads at 11-all by the conclusion of regulation.
In the penalty shootout, Canada and Brazil both converted on their first four penalty shots prior to both goalkeepers stopping their opponent’s fifth attempts. The back-and-forth continued as the teams were tied at seven-all before Brazil buried the deciding factor to win the shootout 8-7.
