BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — As the final hours of 2025 tick down to the start of 2026, it is important to thank the people who make the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) remain the largest and most influential water polo organization in collegiate sports – the leagues’ athletes, coaches, officials/administrators and fans.

The leagues’ office staff oversee the management and coordination of the game around the hundreds of campuses around the county.  However, it is the continued dedication and commitment of the athletes who brave early morning practices and long drives to competition sites, the coaches who are called upon to be a mentor to his/her team and a maestro of tactics, the administrators who oversee the management of the teams and of course the officials/referees who call the game everyone from sunny California to the snowy hills of New England, that keep the sport of water polo alive on the collegiate and Olympic levels.

As the calendar flips from the Year of the Wood Snake (2025) to the Year of the Fire Horse (2026) in the Chinese Zodiac calendar – technically on February 17 on the Lunar New Year – the league office looks forward to the continued passion and  courage of is membership and officials to seize new opportunities and help move the sport of water polo to new frontiers.
