BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sam Carew (Sr., Durham, N.C./Triangle) scored 26 goals during a 3-1 weekend for the University of North Carolina at No. 16-ranked Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in Blacksburg, Va., to earn honors as the February 9 Women’s Collegiate Club Atlantic Division Player of the Week.

She opened the weekend on Saturday, February 7, with eight goals in a 25-16 loss to the host Hokies and chipped in a trio of tallies in helping the Tar Heels handle James Madison University by a 20-7 count.

On Sunday, February 8, Carew accounted for nine strikes in a 17-11 defeat of Georgetown University before putting away six more in a 14-12 dispatching of the University of Virginia.  Against Virginia, she led a fourth quarter comeback for UNC as the Tar Heels rallied from a 9-8 deficit to claim a two-score victory.
