2026 George Washington University Men’s Water Polo Schedule
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Head coach Barry King and the George Washington University water polo program have announced the team’s 2026 schedule, featuring 27 regular season games with 12 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) matches.
The season gets underway on the west coast when GW visits Irvine, Calif., for a four-match weekend, which includes bouts with Biola University (August 28), the University of California-Irvine (August 28), University of Redlands (August 29) and Loyola Marymount University (August 29).
George Washington then returns to the East Coast for a pair of tournaments in early September, playing five games between September 4-6 in Annapolis Md., at the United States Naval Academy before heading to Bridgeport, W. Va. for four games on September 12-13 at Salem University.
The Revolutionaries will face three teams in their early-season tournaments who finished ranked in the Top 20 in last year’s end-of-season poll, including Princeton (No. 12), Loyola Marymount (No. 13) and UC Irvine (No. 16).
George Washington starts MAWPC play in early October, playing back-to-back days at Bucknell University (October 3) and at Mercyhurst University (October 4). GW navigates through all six MAWPC road matches before playing at home, visiting Fordham University (October 11), Wagner College (October 11), Navy (October 23) and Mount St. Mary’s University (October 24).
All of GW’s home matches come at the end of the regular season, first versus reigning MAWPC champion Fordham (October 25) in a home game hosted at Navy in Annapolis, Md. GW then hosts Bucknell (November 1), Mercyhurst (November 1), Wagner (November 7), Mount St. Mary’s (November 7) and Navy (November 8) in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) to close out the regular season.
The MAWPC Championship is hosted this year by Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa., and runs from November 20-22 with the victor earning the league’s automatic bid into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship field.
GW has added two players to its roster for 2026, who join 15 returning Revolutionaries from last year’s MAWPC Championship runner-up team.
MAWPC All-Conference Second Team selection Antonio Florena returns for his junior year after collecting 78 points in 2025. GW also brings back MAWPC All-Conference Honorable Mention and All-Tournament First Team selection Andrea Forno, who finished third in points (80) during in his freshman season while setting a new GW single-season record in ejections drawn (104). Yam Kabakov, GW’s second-highest point scorer from 2025 (94 points), is vying for another impact year as he returns for his junior season.
Home match locations and a promotional schedule will be announced in the coming days.
