CLAREMONT, Calif. — Colleen Barron scored four goals, including the game-winning score in the final period, to lift the Bucknell University women’s water polo team to an 11-10 win over Division III No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Haldeman Pool.
Shyla Lintz contributed with four goals, while Gigi Rojahn, Tegan Stanbach and Sarah Mooney each scored one goal, as the Bison improve to 10-10 on the year and remain unbeaten when scoring in double figures.
Emily Konishi handed out a team-high three assists, helping the Bison snap a two-game losing streak to the Sagehens.
Pomona-Pitzer, who entered Wednesday winners of four of its last five contests, scored the game’s first goal in the opening period. The two teams traded goals in the second period to knot the contest 5-5 at halftime.
The two squads scored three goals each in the third period and were tied late in the fourth quarter. In the final minute, Barron sent a shot between the pipes for the go-ahead score.
Manuela Herrera got the start in goal, posting 10 saves in the victory.
